Lauryn Hill - Mystery of Iniquity

July 14, 2014 • ☕️ 1 min read

In an epic five-minute analytical ocean, Lauryn Hill not only taught me 20 things I didn’t know, but also gave birth to possibly the best chorus on Kanye West’s The College Dropout.

“Mystery of Iniquity” is arranged a little differently than most tracks, but that’s for good reason. Rarely have I ever seen someone go so hard rapping while simultaneously playing the guitar. Lauryn is a gifted musician at her core. If you weren’t already aware of that fact then this performance should set you straight.

Lauryn is straight as an arrow as she explores an important side of our society rarely covered in music to this depth. It is something you need to hear for yourself. Lauryn is a rare gem of an entertainer and idol of mine. I’ve got the video of the breathtaking performance below for your viewing pleasure.

Bonus Track: “I Get Out” at the same show. Both the song and story behind it are inspirational.
